Rare Weekend Post

This is how we cooked dinner tonight - burgers and brats and grilled onions.

Temperature: 5 degrees Fahrenheit
Snow depth: 1 foot

Keep in mind that 10 days ago, my roses in the front garden were still blooming.

It smelled like summer for about 30 minutes in my house tonight. Tomorrow is more seasonal fare with venison stew for supper.

Is it snowman kind of snow or too powdery?

The dry, fluffy, feathery kind. We haven't really gotten any sticky snow, yet, but give it time, there's three or so more months to go.

I love it! We do the same thing, though it was cold pizza and hard "crazy bread" for us. I did make some No Bake cookies . . .

We also have frigid temps here, but not quite as much snow, so no impetus to brush off and thaw out the grill yet. There's something about grilling outside in the winter, not that it's winter yet, but its counterintuitive action, makes it strangely perfect. Mmmm yum, venison stew. Sounds like tomorrow's menu is delicious too.

I am so jealous! We got a paltry 3 inches, and I'd love to have enough for snowmen.

Oh, and brats on the grill? One of the tastiest "easy" meals I've ever found.

Today is almost cold enough to freeze, but yesterday was 80 degrees here. (I'm in Texas).

We had homemade chili because it got down into the forties.

Wow, that looks and sounds cold.

We're expecting snow in the northeast this weekend. I love to bbq all year round, but where I live--near the water--it gets so windy the flames blow out. I'm not a big fan of the winter season, but it does have a quiet beauty when your world is covered in white.
I'm hungry for burgers on the grill. ;o)

I haven't seen snow in nearly five years. Or a barbecue, either. Enjoy both for me! :)

Great pictures! I'm still hoping -- naively, I think -- for a white Christmas...
